The History of Raymond James Stadium
Raymond James Stadium was built to replace the old Tampa Stadium, which was financially unsustainable. Namely, its construction started in 1996, and the construction cost was $168 million. Construction was completed in 1998, and the first game was held on September 20, 1998, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted the Chicago Bears.
